This story is so strange but apparently this is not a new phenom; they do it in Japan all the time.  What is it?  A musical road.  An asphalt road with grooves of varying sizes carved precisely so that when you drive over it at 55 mph you "hear" a tune.  In the case of this groovy road in Lancaster, California the tune is The William Tell Overture.   Take a listen

Silliness for sure but kind of fun!

  1. Dear Dianne, A woman my mother works for gave her a ticket, and my mother gave it to me, because I like classical music. So, on October 19th, I went to the California Theater for the first time, and I listened to Symphony Silicon Valley play Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C Major, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E Minor, and Debussy’s La Mer. I really enjoyed seeing the music being made. The music was wonderfully beautiful. I got into the music more than I do when I hear it on the radio.
I had not enjoyed La Mer when I had heard it on KDFC, and I did not expect to enjoy it. But after I read the history and description of La Mer in the program, I knew what to listen for, and I enjoyed listening to La Mer! Now I want to go to more performances by Symphony Silicon Valley.
